Lateral Surface Area of a Cube

Concept Explanation

Lateral Surface Area of a Cube

Lateral Surface Area of Cube: Lateral Surface area consists of four square faces

Area of one square face = large side^2

Area of four face of a cube = 4;times ;side^2

Example: Find the lateral surface area and total surface area of a cube of edge 10 cm.

Solution: We have,

Lateral Surface Area = 4;times ;side^2=4times10^{2}cm^{2} = 400cm^2

Total Surface Area of Cube = 6;times ;side^2=6times10^{2}cm^{2} = 600cm^2

Example: Find the ratio of the total surface area and lateral surface area of a cube

Solution: We have,

Lateral Surface Area = 4;times ;side^2  and  Total Surface Area of Cube = 6;times ;side^2therefore ;;TSA:LTA=6a^{2}:4a^{2}=3:2
